The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has revised the CTET 2026 examination schedule owing to a large number of applications. The test will now be conducted on 7 and 8 February 2026, instead of a single day. Candidates should check detailed shift timings and prepare accordingly.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially revised the CTET 2026 exam dates, planning to conduct the national eligibility test over two days — 7 and 8 February 2026 instead of the originally planned single date. This change comes in response to the significantly high number of candidates who registered for this session.
Why CTET 2026 Dates Changed?
CBSE decided to revise the original CTET schedule because of a substantial increase in the number of aspirants registered for the February 2026 edition of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test. To manage logistics more effectively across exam centres and ensure smooth conduct of the exam, the board opted to divide the test into two days.
The revised dates aim to reduce crowding and administrative challenges at examination centres while providing candidates with a planned shift schedule. Aspirants should check the official CTET portal ctet.nic.in for detailed shift timings and centre information.
CTET 2026 Exam Days and Shifts
Under the revised schedule:
- 7 February 2026: CTET papers will be conducted in designated morning and afternoon shifts.
- 8 February 2026: Remaining shifts for both Paper I and Paper II will be held.
Candidates must double-check their admit cards for exact dates, shift timings, reporting time, and exam centre details once the documents are released on the official portal.
CTET 2026 Exam: What Candidates Should Know?
Aspirants preparing for the CTET 2026 examination should adjust their study plans according to the new schedule. The test is crucial for eligibility as a teacher for Classes I to V (Paper I) and Classes VI to VIII (Paper II) at central and state government schools, including KVS and NVS institutions. Official notices and exam resources, such as instructions on exam-day guidelines and admit card release updates, will be published on the CBSE’s CTET portal ctet.nic.in. Candidates are advised to follow notifications closely to avoid missing key updates.
