CBSE launches psycho-social counselling support for Class 10 and 12 students ahead of Board Exams 2026, starting 6 January 2026, as part of its annual student welfare initiative. The free support system aims to help students manage exam-related stress and anxiety during the board examination cycle. The services will continue until 1 June 2026, according to an official notification issued by the Board. The initiative comes ahead of the CBSE Class 10 and 12 theory examinations, which are scheduled to begin from 17 February 2026.
CBSE Psycho-Social Counselling Services 2026: Duration and Objective
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has stated that the counselling programme is designed to promote emotional well-being and mental balance among students during high-pressure examination months. The first phase of counselling has already commenced and will remain active throughout the examination and result period. CBSE officials have highlighted that the counselling services focus on key areas such as stress management, exam anxiety, time management, and emotional resilience. The initiative is meant to help students approach examinations with confidence and clarity rather than fear or pressure.
CBSE Counselling Support as Part of Examination Framework
CBSE has clarified that psycho-social counselling has been an integral part of its examination framework for several decades. The Psycho-Social Tele-Counselling initiative was first introduced in 1998 and has since evolved into a structured support system for students, parents, teachers, and schools. Trained counsellors and experienced educators associated with CBSE are involved in providing guidance and emotional support. The Board has emphasised that the services are confidential, student-friendly, and accessible across India and abroad.
CBSE Helpline Number, IVRS and Tele-Counselling Facilities
To ensure wide access, CBSE has made counselling support available through multiple channels. The details of these services are outlined below to help students and parents understand the available options. Students can access 24×7 toll-free IVRS support by dialling 1800-11-8004. The Interactive Voice Response System provides recorded guidance on stress management, exam preparation strategies, and emotional well-being in both Hindi and English. In addition to IVRS, tele-counselling services are available during working hours. Through this facility, students and parents can directly interact with trained counsellors and educators for personalised guidance related to exam stress, motivation, and emotional concerns.
