CBSE Issues Statement on Class 12 Result 2026 Controversy, Defends OSM System

The CBSE Class 12 Result 2026 controversy has gained significant attention after students, parents, and teachers raised concerns about unexpected marks in key subjects. In response, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has now issued an official statement defending its evaluation process and addressing complaints linked to the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system. The board has also confirmed that the CBSE re-evaluation process 2026 will begin from May 19.

According to CBSE, the evaluation system is designed to ensure transparency, accuracy, and fairness in marking. The board clarified that students who feel dissatisfied with their marks will be allowed to apply for verification and re-assessment of answer sheets through a structured process.

CBSE Class 12 Result 2026 Controversy and Official Update

The CBSE Class 12 Result 2026 controversy started after multiple students reported unusually low scores, especially in subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology. Some students even claimed discrepancies between their board results and performance in competitive exams.

CBSE responded by stating that the OSM evaluation system is built to reduce manual errors and ensure step-wise marking consistency across all exam centres. The board emphasized that the system improves fairness and minimizes human error during large-scale evaluation. CBSE also confirmed that students will be given access to scanned answer sheets before applying for re-evaluation, ensuring full transparency in the process.

CBSE OSM Evaluation System and Result Transparency

The CBSE OSM evaluation system (On-Screen Marking) has been introduced to modernize the assessment process. Under this system, answer sheets are digitally scanned and evaluated on-screen by examiners. CBSE stated that this method ensures:

  • Uniform marking standards across regions
  • Step-by-step evaluation of answers
  • Reduced chances of manual calculation errors
  • Improved accountability in checking

The board further clarified that the system has been implemented to maintain fairness in large-scale examinations involving lakhs of students.
