The Central Government has assigned IAS officer Lokhande Prashant Sitaram the additional charge of CBSE Chairperson while appointing him as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs. He will continue to oversee the board until a regular Chairperson is appointed. Meanwhile, the CBSE Class 10 compartment result 2026 is expected to be announced soon.
The Central Government has revised the appointment of Lokhande Prashant Sitaram, assigning the 2001-batch AGMUT cadre IAS officer the additional responsibility of Chairperson of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The appointment comes alongside his new role as Additional Secretary in the Department of Home under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). Lokhande Prashant Sitaram Appointed as CBSE Chairperson on Additional Charge
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has issued an official order revising the terms of Lokhande Prashant Sitaram's appointment. Under the revised order, he will serve as Additional Secretary in the Department of Home, Ministry of Home Affairs, while simultaneously holding the additional charge of CBSE Chairperson. This change replaces the earlier appointment made in June 2026, when he had been designated as the full-time Chairperson of CBSE. With the revised notification, the government has redesignated his position as an interim additional responsibility. The arrangement is temporary and will continue until the appointment of a regular Chairperson for the board.
