CBSE Cancels Class 10 Exams in West Asia Amid Conflict

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has cancelled the remaining Class 10 board exams for students in the West Asian region due to rising regional tensions and security concerns.

The decision affects more than 150 CBSE-affiliated schools across Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. CBSE will use a formula-based assessment method to calculate students' final results.

Why Did CBSE Cancel Class 10 Exams?

CBSE cancelled the exams due to the escalating conflict involving Iran, Israel and the United States. The ongoing tensions created security concerns for students and schools in the region.

Instead of asking students to appear for the remaining papers later, CBSE decided to use an alternative evaluation method.

The decision applies to CBSE-affiliated schools in the affected West Asian countries.

Countries Covered Under the CBSE Decision

The cancellation applies to Class 10 students studying in CBSE-affiliated schools in the following countries:

How Will CBSE Calculate Class 10 Results?

CBSE will not conduct the remaining Class 10 exams for students in these regions.

Instead, the board will follow a formula-based evaluation system. It will use students' performance in examinations that were already conducted earlier in the academic session.

The marks obtained in the completed papers will be used to calculate the final results under the alternative assessment policy.

This means students will not have to take the cancelled papers again.

No Physical Rescheduling of Remaining Exams

CBSE has decided against conducting the remaining exams at a later date in the affected region.

The decision is linked to the continuing security situation. Holding physical examinations could create difficulties for students, teachers and schools.
