CBSE 12th Revaluation 2026: Important Notice on Marks Calculation

In response to numerous student inquiries regarding discrepancies in the total marks calculation, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a crucial notice regarding the CBSE 12th Revaluation 2026 process. This notice aims to clarify the method used for calculating scores, particularly when students have attempted extra questions.

The CBSE 12th Revaluation 2026 process commenced on June 2, 2026, and students have until June 6, 2026, to submit their applications for revaluation or verification. This timeline is critical for students who wish to contest their scores and seek a reassessment of their performance.

CBSE 12th Revaluation 2026: Key Facts About Marks Calculation

According to the notice released by CBSE, the board has a longstanding policy regarding the evaluation of marks when students attempt more questions than required. The board stated:

“There are many internal choices given in question papers for students to choose from while answering their questions. Many times, students answer more than the requisite number of questions. As a matter of policy, CBSE has always taken the best obtained marks by the candidate and mentioned the other question/subpart attempted as Over Attempt.”

This means that when students exceed the required number of answers, CBSE considers only the highest marks achieved for the final score. Any marks from questions that were not counted towards the total are indicated with an asterisk on the calculation sheet. Students are advised to pay close attention to these asterisk marks and the accompanying footnotes to understand their total marks accurately.
