CBSE releases strict protocol for reporting paper discrepancies in 2026 board exams. Schools must submit same-day observations via OECMS portal only.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a detailed protocol for submitting observations regarding question papers for the Class 10 and Class 12 Board Exams 2026. The move aims to ensure transparency, accuracy, and timely redressal of any discrepancies found in examination papers. The board has made it mandatory for examination centres to follow a structured reporting mechanism during the ongoing board examinations.
Same-Day Reporting Mandatory
As per the official instructions, schools must submit any observations or discrepancies related to question papers on the same day of the examination. Delayed submissions will not be entertained under any circumstances. CBSE has clearly stated that only timely and properly documented feedback will be considered for review.
Submission Only Through OECMS Portal
All exam centres are required to upload their observations exclusively through the Online Exam Centre Management System (OECMS). Feedback sent via email, unofficial channels, or after the stipulated deadline will not be accepted. The board emphasized that the digital submission system ensures faster evaluation and maintains record transparency.
Detailed Feedback Required
CBSE has directed schools to provide clear, specific, and well-explained observations. Vague statements such as “question is incorrect” will not be sufficient. Valid observations may include:
- Errors in question framing
- Incorrect answer options
- Questions outside the prescribed syllabus
- Printing or data-related issues
Schools must clearly mention the question number and nature of the issue while submitting the report.
Dedicated Communication Channel
For additional clarification, CBSE has also provided a designated email ID for communication related to question paper observations. However, the primary mode of submission remains the OECMS portal.
Aim: Fairness and Transparency
The protocol is part of CBSE’s broader effort to maintain fairness and credibility in the board examination process. With lakhs of students appearing for the 2026 board exams across India and abroad, the board has strengthened monitoring systems to ensure smooth conduct. Schools and exam functionaries have been advised to strictly adhere to the guidelines to avoid rejection of their submissions. Candidates and parents are advised to rely only on official communications from CBSE for updates regarding examination-related matters.
