Indian Institutes of Management Bodh Gaya and Sirmaur will take part in the Common Admission Process (CAP 2026) for MBA admissions. Earlier, IIM Jammu confirmed its participation. This update comes as five IIMs have withdrawn from the joint selection process for the 2026–28 academic cycle.
CAP is used by participating IIMs to conduct the second stage of selection for candidates shortlisted through the CAT 2025 exam. Even though CAT scores form the base for admission, all 21 IIMs follow separate criteria to prepare their merit lists.
Five IIMs withdraw from CAP 2026
There has been a major shift in the admissions structure this year. IIM Udaipur has chosen to conduct its own independent MBA admission starting from the 2026–28 batch. Four other IIMs — Raipur, Kashipur, Ranchi and Tiruchirappalli — have also exited CAP and created a new Joint Admission Process (JAP 2026). The aim is to reduce the time required for the second-stage activities such as written ability tests, personal interviews, academic assessment and work experience evaluation.

IIM Sirmaur has not released its full MBA admission criteria for 2026 yet. However, the institute has already reduced its sectional cut-offs from 94 to 92 percentile.
For the final merit list, the weightage will be as follows:
