XAT Dress Code 2026 Guidelines Released, Check Allowed and Banned Item

XAT Dress Code 2026 guidelines were issued by XLRI on 29 December 2025 ahead of the upcoming Xavier Aptitude Test. The instructions outline permitted clothing, restricted accessories, and exam-day precautions for candidates. These rules aim to ensure smooth frisking and uniform security procedures at examination centres. Candidates appearing for XAT 2026 were advised to follow the prescribed dress code along with carrying mandatory documents to avoid delays on the exam day.

XAT Dress Code 2026: What Candidates Were Allowed to Wear

XLRI clarified that candidates were expected to wear simple, comfortable attire without metal elements. The focus remained on ensuring ease during security checks while maintaining decorum at exam centres. The official guidelines recommended light-coloured and plain clothing suitable for sitting for long durations. Outfits with excessive pockets, zippers, or embellishments were discouraged, as they could slow down frisking procedures. Candidates wearing minimal and comfortable attire were allowed faster entry without time loss. Shoes or sandals with minimal metal parts were permitted, while heavy footwear was discouraged. The dress code applied uniformly across all XAT 2026 examination centres.

XAT Exam Hall Prohibited Items List 2026

Along with clothing instructions, XLRI also reiterated a strict list of items not allowed inside the exam hall. Carrying restricted items could lead to denial of entry or disqualification. The prohibited items included mobile phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth devices, calculators, fitness bands, wallets, handbags, books, notes, papers, and any electronic gadgets. Jewellery, belts with large buckles, metal accessories, caps, hats, and scarves were also restricted, except for religious reasons. Candidates were allowed to carry only essential items such as the XAT admit card, a valid photo identity proof, and a transparent water bottle if permitted by the centre.

XAT Dress Code 2026 for Male Candidates

Male candidates appearing for XAT 2026 were advised to choose formal-casual clothing with minimal accessories. Recommended attire included plain shirts or T-shirts with half or full sleeves, light cotton trousers or simple jeans, and comfortable footwear. Jackets, hoodies, heavy denim, cargo pants, thick-soled shoes, metal chains, and bracelets were not permitted under the guidelines. Following these instructions helped reduce congestion during entry and security checks.

XAT Dress Code 2026 for Female Candidates

Female candidates were instructed to dress modestly and avoid accessories that could cause inconvenience during frisking. Simple tops, kurtis, T-shirts, leggings, palazzos, or plain trousers were permitted. Flat sandals or low-heel footwear were recommended. Heavy embroidery, designer outfits, jewellery, high heels, layered winter clothing, and metal hair accessories were restricted.

Common Mistakes Highlighted in XAT Dress Code Instructions

XLRI also cautioned candidates against common dress code mistakes. These included wearing clothes with metal embellishments, carrying smartwatches unknowingly, assuming accessories would be allowed, and ignoring instructions printed on the admit card. Candidates were advised to check their attire a day before the exam to avoid last-minute issues at the centre.
