First State Board to Implement Semester Format
The semester-based assessment for plus-two students was a landmark reform under the State Education Policy of West Bengal. It was designed to evaluate students’ performance periodically rather than through a single final examination.
The Council President mentioned that the initiative has been well received by students and educators, as it allows for continuous learning and evaluation. The format is expected to improve academic engagement and prepare students for university-level semester systems.
The West Bengal Higher Secondary Council plans to release a detailed report on district-wise performance and subject-wise pass rates in the coming weeks. Schools have been advised to download the mark sheets and share them with students through their respective institutions.
