WBJEE 2026: Offline Decentralised Counselling Begins, Institutes Issue Notices, Check Here

Institutes in West Bengal have started issuing their own notifications for WBJEE 2026 offline decentralised counselling, a day after the state Higher Education Department allowed campus-level counselling for vacant seats. Jadavpur University has already opened its application window, so candidates who still need a BTech seat through WBJEE 2026 can now apply directly to institutes.

The WBJEE 2026 decentralised counselling is meant for seats left vacant after the online rounds. Reports put the number of vacant seats at around 21,000. All admissions must be completed by October 31, 2026, so candidates have only a short window to act.

What Has Changed in WBJEE 2026 Decentralised Counselling After State Approval?

Until now, the vacant seats were being filled through the online decentralised rounds run by the WBJEE Board. The West Bengal Higher Education Department has now allowed institutes to hold campus-level counselling themselves. Each institute can decide its own application dates, fee and procedure, and may use physical or online mode.

For candidates, this means there is no single common portal. Each institute publishes its own notice, brochure and schedule, and candidates must follow the one issued by the college they want.

Which Institutes Have Issued WBJEE 2026 Offline Counselling Notifications?

Jadavpur University is the first major institute to issue a notification for its UG engineering and pharmacy vacant seats. Its notice dated October 14, 2026, says counselling will be held strictly on the WBJEE 2026 General Merit Rank (GMR). Seats in each category will close as soon as the vacancies are filled.

Candidates should note the Jadavpur University dates given in the notice before they apply.

Other institutes, including Calcutta University and private colleges, are expected to publish their notices soon. Candidates should check each college’s website for the vacant seat list and dates.

How to Apply for WBJEE 2026 Offline Decentralised Counselling at Institutes?

Candidates can apply for WBJEE 2026 decentralised counselling directly through the institute they want, since there is no common portal this time. Jadavpur University, for example, accepts online applications from October 15 to October 23, 2026, and then calls shortlisted candidates for physical counselling.

6. Submit the form and download the confirmation.
7. Attend physical counselling on the call-up date with original documents.

Who Can Apply for WBJEE 2026 Campus-Level Counselling and Which Documents Are Required?
