Delay in WBJEE 2025 Result: The Reason Behind It

According to reports, WBJEEB Chairperson Sonali Chakraborty has indicated that the results might be held up due to the ongoing survey related to the identification of Other Backward Classes (OBCs). Since category-wise reservation significantly affects rank allocation, the board is expected to finalize ranks only after incorporating the newly updated OBC list. The West Bengal Government recently added 76 new castes to the state OBC list, which may have an impact on the overall ranking process.
Will WBJEE Result 2025 Be Sent Offline?
No. The WBJEE 2025 result will only be available online. The authorities have confirmed that rank cards will not be sent via post or any offline mode.
WBJEE 2025 Result: Tie-Breaking Rules
If two or more candidates secure the same rank in WBJEE 2025, a tie-breaking policy will be applied. The criteria are as follows:
- Candidates with fewer negative marks in Maths, Physics, and Chemistry combined will be ranked higher.
- If the tie persists, higher positive marks in Maths and Physics will be considered.
- Further, positive and negative marks in Maths and Chemistry will be analyzed.
- If unresolved, scores from only 2-mark questions in each subject will be examined.
- Ultimately, if all else fails, the older candidate (based on date of birth) will be given preference.
Marking Scheme for WBJEE 2025
The examination included three types of questions with different marking patterns:
- Category I: +1 for correct, -0.25 for incorrect
- Category II: +2 for correct, -0.5 for incorrect
- Category III: +2 for correct, no negative marking
WBJEE 2025 Result: Cutoff Criteria
The WBJEE 2025 cutoff will depend on multiple factors, including exam difficulty, number of applicants, seat availability, and previous trends. Each institute and course will have separate cutoff ranks for different categories.
For Jadavpur University, one of the top institutions accepting WBJEE scores, the eligibility requirements are:
- Minimum 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics taken together (45% for reserved categories)
- At least 60% in Mathematics alone (45% for reserved categories)
- A minimum of 30% in English
- Pass marks in each subject (theory and practical)
WBJEE 2025 Result: Provisional Admission Fee Structure
After the counselling rounds begin, candidates allotted seats will be required to pay a provisional admission fee. The fee details are as follows:
