WBCHSE Class 12 Board Exam 2026 Begins for Over 7.10 Lakh Students

The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) commenced the Class 12 board examinations on 12 February 2026. Over 7.10 lakh candidates are appearing for semester IV, III supplementary, and old syllabus exams across 2,100 centres. Exams will conclude on 27 February 2026.

The West Bengal Class 12 board examinations 2026 began on 12 February with a massive turnout of over 7.10 lakh students. Conducted by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE), the exams cover semester IV, third-semester supplementary, and old syllabus papers. The board exams are scheduled to conclude on 27 February 2026.

 

Number of Candidates Appearing for WBCHSE Class 12 Exam

This year, a total of 7,10,811 candidates are registered:

  • Fourth-semester exams: 6,35,864 candidates
  • Third-semester supplementary tests: 59,452 candidates
  • Old syllabus system: 15,495 candidates
  • Female candidates: 3,95,079

The large turnout reflects the scale of the WBCHSE board examination process across the state.

 

WBCHSE Class 12 Exam Timings

The exams are scheduled to ensure smooth conduct and minimal overlap between sessions:

  • Fourth-semester exams: 10:00 am to 12:00 pm
  • Third-semester supplementary exams: 1:00 pm to 2:15 pm
  • Old syllabus exams: 10:00 am to 1:15 pm

Candidates must adhere to these timings to avoid disqualification or delays.

 

Exam Centres and Safety Measures

To ensure secure and fair examination conditions, WBCHSE has implemented the following measures:

  • Around 7,000 invigilators deployed from primary, upper primary, and secondary schools.
  • Approximately 2,100 higher secondary schools are functioning as exam centres.
  • CCTV cameras installed at entrance gates.
  • Over 100 venues marked as sensitive zones under strict surveillance.
  • Teachers from higher secondary schools focus on Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercises related to electoral rolls while invigilating exams.

These measures aim to maintain a fair and disciplined examination environment across West Bengal. The WBCHSE Class 12 board exams 2026 are critical for students’ academic progression, and authorities have ensured proper infrastructure and supervision for smooth conduct across the state.
