Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) has released the revised exam pattern for VITEEE 2026.Today's date is 28 October 2025. The authorities have introduced negative marking for wrong answers, requiring students to focus more on accuracy while attempting questions.
VITEEE 2026 Revised Marking Scheme
The revised VITEEE 2026 marking scheme is as follows:
Particulars | Details |
Correct Answer | 4 marks will be awarded |
Wrong Answer | 1 mark will be deducted |
Unattempted Question | No marks will be deducted |
Previously, there was no negative marking, and all correct answers carried the same weight. Now, students need to avoid guesswork, as a wrong answer can reduce their score.
Impact of Negative Marking on Students
The introduction of negative marking will significantly affect the exam strategy:
- Students must now carefully select questions to attempt.
- Guessing answers carries risk, as it can cost up to 5 marks (1 mark negative plus 4 marks lost if the correct answer is missed).
- Unanswered questions remain safe since no marks are deducted.
Experts advise students to focus on conceptual clarity and prioritize accuracy over quantity. Practicing important topics and frequently repeated questions will improve confidence and reduce errors.
VITEEE 2026 Application Form
The VITEEE 2026 application form is now available online at viteee.vit.ac.in. Students can submit the form until 31 March 2026. The application fee is INR 1,350.
