Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the Indian Forest Service (IFS) Mains Examination 2025 timetable. The exam will be conducted in two sessions daily from 16 November to 23 November 2025 across multiple centres in India. The detailed subject-wise schedule has been uploaded on the official website, upsc.gov.in.
UPSC IFS Mains 2025 Exam Timings
According to the official notification, the IFS Mains exam will be held over eight days, with two sittings each day.
- Morning session: 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon
- Afternoon session: 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM
- Duration of each paper: three hours

Eligibility to Appear in UPSC IFS Mains 2025
Only candidates who cleared the UPSC IFS Prelims 2025 are eligible to appear for the Mains exam. This stage is considered critical as it determines selection for one of the country’s most prestigious services, the Indian Forest Service.
Subjects Covered in UPSC IFS Mains 2025
The IFS Mains exam will test candidates through:
- General English
- General Knowledge
- Two optional subjects chosen from areas like Forestry, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Engineering, and other allied sciences
The Commission noted that this stage is meant to assess both academic expertise and analytical skills. Candidates who qualify will move forward to the Personality Test (Interview).
