What Is the UPSC ESE 2027 Age Limit?

For the UPSC Engineering Services Examination 2027, the age limit is 21 to 30 years as on January 1, 2027. The date of birth should be between January 2, 1997 and January 1, 2006, both dates included.

What Is the UPSC ESE 2027 Educational Qualification?

A degree in Engineering from a recognised university or institution is the main educational qualification for UPSC ESE 2027. The notification also lists certain equivalent qualifications accepted for the examination.

The accepted qualifications include:

• Engineering degree from a recognised Indian university or institution.
• Sections A and B of the Institution Examinations of the Institution of Engineers (India), subject to the conditions in the notification.
• Engineering degree or diploma from a recognised foreign university or institution under the prescribed conditions.
• Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India).
• Associate Membership Examination Parts II and III or Sections A and B of the Aeronautical Society of India.
• Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Radio Engineers, London, held after November 1959.

There are also specific qualification rules for some Electronics and Telecommunication posts. For example, certain posts in the Indian Naval Armament Service and Indian Radio Regulatory Service allow specified M.Sc. qualifications.

Can Final Year Students Apply for UPSC ESE 2027?

Yes, students who are appearing for a qualifying examination can apply if passing that examination would make them educationally eligible for ESE. Their admission remains provisional.

Those who qualify for the Personality Test or Interview must later provide proof that they have passed the required qualification within the time given by UPSC. If the required proof is not submitted, the candidature can be cancelled.

What Are the UPSC ESE 2027 Engineering Branches?

The Engineering Services Examination 2027 covers four main engineering categories.

What Is the UPSC ESE 2027 Application Fee?

The application fee for UPSC ESE 2027 is INR 200. Female applicants and applicants belonging to SC, ST, and PwBD categories are exempt from paying the fee.

OBC and EWS applicants do not get this fee exemption and are required to pay the prescribed amount.

The fee can be paid through net banking, Visa, MasterCard, RuPay card or UPI. UPSC states that the fee, once paid, will not be refunded.
