UPESSC has rejected requests to revise UPTET 2026 marks over OMR errors, normalisation and answer key-based calculations. The commission has, however, allowed online correction of specified certificate details for successful candidates, including name, date of birth and category.
The UPTET Result 2026 will not be revised for complaints related to OMR sheet errors, normalisation or marks calculated using the answer key. The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) issued its decision on September 16 after examining representations received following the result declaration.
The UPTET 2026 result was declared on August 26. The examination was conducted on July 2, 3 and 4 across five shifts, with nearly 19.95 lakh candidates appearing for the test.
UPTET Result 2026: What Did UPESSC Decide?
UPESSC examined the representations through a committee and divided them into four categories. Three categories related to requests for changes in marks, while the fourth concerned corrections in certificates of successful candidates.
The commission has therefore retained the marks awarded in the declared UPTET Result 2026 for the issues covered in the first three categories.
UPTET OMR Errors: Why Marks Will Not Be Revised
A major part of the representations concerned errors while filling the OMR sheet. These included incorrect or incomplete entries for the roll number and question booklet number.
UPESSC stated that the examination instructions had specified how these details were required to be marked. Since OMR evaluation is carried out through an automated process, an incorrectly filled or unfilled bubble can affect the evaluation.
The commission said such requests could not be accepted and placed responsibility for correctly filling the OMR sheet on the examinee.
UPTET Normalisation: UPESSC Rejects Marks Change Requests
Another set of representations questioned the UPTET 2026 normalisation process. The examination was conducted over multiple shifts, so UPESSC used the normalisation procedure mentioned in the examination notification.
According to the commission, normalisation is used when an examination is held on more than one day or shift to enable comparative evaluation. UPESSC said the process used a formula through software and that similar normalisation procedures had been upheld by courts.
Requests for marks to be changed because of normalisation, including complaints about marks decreasing after normalisation, were not accepted.
UPTET Answer Key-Based Marks Also Unchanged
UPESSC also considered representations regarding marks calculated using the answer key. The commission did not accept requests seeking changes to these marks.
This means the marks already reflected in the UPTET Result 2026 remain unchanged on the grounds covered by these representations.
UPTET Certificate Correction Facility Available
A separate decision has been taken for errors in certificates issued to candidates who qualified the UPTET 2026 examination.
UPESSC has allowed online applications for correction of certain personal details. The permitted corrections cover:
- Name
- Father’s name or husband’s name
- Date of birth
- Category/class
The corrections are to be submitted through the commission's portal by the concerned successful candidates.
UPTET 2026 Result Timeline
The latest decision follows the completion of the UPTET 2026 result process. The examination was conducted after a five-year gap, according to the report.
The September 16 decision addresses the representations examined by the commission following the result. It does not announce a fresh result or a revised score for the OMR, normalisation and answer-key-related complaints.
