UP Teacher Recruitment Exams Delayed Again as TGT Exam Postponed

The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has once again postponed its Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) recruitment exam, originally scheduled for December 18–19, 2025, the Times of India reports. This marks the fifth rescheduling, following earlier proposed dates in April, May, and July. This repeated delay has left around 8.68 lakh candidates in limbo, increasing frustration over the state of teacher hiring in Uttar Pradesh.

Why the Delay Keeps Happening?

Several factors are contributing to the recurring postponements:

  • The chairperson of UPESSC, Prof Kirti Pandey, who had approved the December exam date, resigned in late September 2025.
  • No replacement has yet been officially appointed, leading to administrative instability. According to the report, the deputy secretary announced the most recent delay.
  • According to critics, the commission’s coordination issues and lack of strong leadership have disrupted the recruitment calendar.

Impact on Aspirants

  • Those who applied for the 3,539 TGT posts have now waited more than a year without a firm exam date.
  • The repeated postponement is being seen as a major roadblock to securing teaching jobs in the state's public schools.
  • Apart from the delay, many aspirants have raised concerns about losing age eligibility, increased financial burden, and emotional stress due to uncertainty.

What’s Next for the Recruitment Process?

  • The new date for the TGT exam has not yet been announced. UPESSC is expected to declare it once a stable leadership structure is in place.
  • Once the exam is held, successful candidates will proceed to further selection stages (if any) based on the commission’s recruitment rules.
  • Candidates are advised to follow official UPESSC communications and check the commission’s website for updates.
