UP Board 2026 Class 12 Gets One‑Subject Improvement Exam Option

UP Board has announced a new provision allowing Class 12 students from the 2026 batch to appear for an improvement examination in one subject of their choice. This chance is designed to help students raise their marks without retaking all board subjects, distinct from the traditional compartment exam.
The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) has introduced a significant change in the UP Board Class 12 examination policy for 2026. For the first time, students who have already passed their Class 12 exams will be allowed to take an improvement exam in one subject to enhance their overall score .This decision comes as a major relief to nearly 25 lakh intermediate students who were anxious about their board marks and can benefit from this new opportunity to strengthen their academic profile
What Is the One‑Subject Improvement Exam?
Under this new provision, students of Class 12 who have passed all subjects in the UP Board 2026 examinations can choose one subject in which their marks were lower than = desired and appear in an improvement test for that subject only. This facility differs from a traditional compartment exam, which is intended for students who fail in one or more subjects. The improvement test is exclusively for students who have passed but seek better marks in a specific subject.
