The application process will begin after the UP Board 12th result 2026is declared by the end of April 2026.
UPMSP Class 12 Improvement Exam 2026 Details
Under the new provision, around 25,76,082 registered students will be eligible to apply for the improvement exam. Students can choose any one subject out of the five subjects to enhance their marks.
Earlier, the UP Board did not offer a separate improvement facility for Intermediate students. This system is already followed by national boards such as the Central Board of Secondary Education and the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations. Now, UPMSP has decided to implement a similar model.
Applications for the improvement exam will be invited only after the result declaration. Detailed guidelines, including the application schedule and fee details, are expected to be issued through an official notification.
UP Board Compartment Exam 2026 Provision
The UP Board compartment exam has been operational since 2020. It allows students who fail in one subject to reappear only in that subject. Earlier, students who failed in a single subject were required to retake examinations in all five subjects. The compartment system reduced that burden and enabled students to save an academic year. The newly approved improvement exam will function separately from the compartment facility, as it is meant for students who have passed but wish to increase their scores.
UP Board Exam 2026 Schedule and Security Measures
The UP Board Class 10 and Class 12 examinations began on 18 February 2026 and will conclude on 12 March 2026. The exams are being conducted in two shifts:
- First Shift: 8:30 AM to 11:45 AM
- Second Shift: 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM
The board confirmed that all high school and intermediate examinations will be completed within 15 working days.
Considering the Holi festival, special security arrangements have been implemented. District School Inspectors (DIOS) and exam centre in-charges have been directed not to leave headquarters during the examination period. Question papers and answer sheets are being secured under 24-hour surveillance to ensure a fair and transparent process.
This year, approximately 5.23 lakh students have registered for the UP Board examinations, including 2.75 lakh Class 10 students and 2.47 lakh Class 12 students. The introduction of the improvement exam marks a significant policy change for Intermediate students in the state.
