UGC NET 2025-26 Result, Cutoff & Final Answer Key Updates Today

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is set to declare the December 2025-26 UGC National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) results by 04 February 2026, following completion of the final answer key process for the exam held late last year.

UGC NET Result Date & How to Check

Candidates who appeared in the UGC NET December 2025-26 examination can check their qualifying status online once results are declared. The NTA portal ugcnet.nta.nic.in will host the results, where candidates must log in using their application number and date of birth to view and download their scorecards including NET and JRF eligibility. The UGC NET exam was conducted in computer-based mode across 85 subjects with multiple shifts between 31 December 2025 and 07 February 2026. Once published, scorecards will also include normalized percentile scores for subjects conducted in more than one shift.

Final Answer Key and Cutoff Release

Earlier, NTA issued the provisional answer key in mid-January and provided a window for candidates to raise objections. These responses were reviewed and incorporated into the final answer key, which forms the basis for the results and cutoff determination. The official UGC NET cutoff marks, which represent the minimum scores required to qualify, will be released along with the result. Experts and candidates have speculated on expected cutoffs across subjects and categories, but the official qualifying marks will be published only after the NTA’s announcement.

Importance of UGC NET Qualification

Qualifying the UGC NET exam is crucial for postgraduate candidates seeking eligibility for Assistant Professor roles, Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) awards, and PhD admissions across Indian universities and colleges. The result will impact candidates’ eligibility status and further academic or career plans.

Next Steps After Results

Candidates should monitor the ugcnet.nta.nic.in portal on result day to access scorecards and verify qualifying status. Qualified candidates for JRF or Assistant Professor eligibility can use their scorecards for fellowship opportunities and teaching appointments respectively.
