UCEED & CEED 2026 Cut-Off Released: Part A Mean, Standard Deviation & Closing Ranks

IIT Bombay has released the UCEED and CEED 2026 cut-off marks for Part A based on the mean score and standard deviation as part of the qualifying criteria for design programmes. The UCEED 2026 Part A cut-off will determine eligibility for ranking and further admission processes into BDes/MDes/PhD courses.
IIT Bombay has officially released the cut-off marks for UCEED 2026 and CEED 2026 Part A, the first stage of qualifying criteria for admission into Bachelor of Design (BDes), Master of Design (MDes) and PhD programmes. The cut-offs are provided in terms of the mean score and standard deviation, which help determine the qualifying benchmark for candidates.
UCEED & CEED 2026 Part A Cut-Off Details
For UCEED 2026, the Part A cut-off figures announced by IIT Bombay are:
- UCEED Part A mean score: 70.86
- Standard deviation: 25.77
For CEED 2026, the Part A scores are:
- CEED Part A mean score: 39.35
- Standard deviation: 16.89
These statistics reflect the overall distribution of marks for candidates who appeared in the respective entrance tests. The Part A cut-off is used to determine which candidates qualify to be evaluated further in Part B (for UCEED) or the subsequent stages of ranking for CEED. Only those who score above the qualifying benchmark based on mean and standard deviation will be considered for final rankings and counselling.
How Mean & Standard Deviation Affect Cut-Off?
IIT Bombay uses the mean (μ) and standard deviation (σ) of Part A marks to compute qualifying benchmarks. These metrics help adjust for variations in difficulty and candidate performance across the test population. The typical formula applied for calculating the cut-off mark in Part A is related to μ and σ, with higher statistical values indicating a stronger performance spread among candidates. This cut-off does not represent final admission eligibility on its own; candidates must also appear in Part B (for UCEED) and complete required evaluation stages.
UCEED 2026 Closing Ranks for BDes Admissions
Alongside cut-off information, past closing ranks provide insight into competitive trends for BDes admissions at participating IITs. Here are last‐round closing ranks for 2025 admissions as a reference:
Candidates aiming for top design schools may need ranks similar to or better than these benchmarks for admission in 2026. Final closing ranks for this year’s counselling process will be updated after the result and seat allotment rounds.
UCEED & CEED Result Dates and Next Steps
The UCEED 2026 result is scheduled to be declared on 6 March 2026, and the CEED 2026 result is expected on 4 March 2026. After result publication, candidates who clear Part A and Part B evaluations will be eligible for admission counselling and seat allocation processes in their chosen design programmes. To participate in counselling and admission, candidates must check official announcements on the UCEED (uceed.iitb.ac.in) and CEED (ceed.iitb.ac.in) portals after results are declared.
