The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has started the registration process for the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) 2026. The exam offers admission to Bachelor of Design (BDes) programmes at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, and IIT Roorkee, along with other participating institutions across India.
UCEED 2026 Exam Dates and Schedule
The UCEED 2026 application process began in early October 2025 and will continue until the last week of November 2025. The admit cards will be issued in January 2026, and the exam is scheduled to be held in the third week of January 2026. A brief overview of key dates is given below:
UCEED 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must have passed the Class 12 examination or equivalent in 2024, or be appearing for the same in 2025. The qualifying exam must include all five subjects.
- Age Limit: Candidates belonging to the open or OBC-NCL category must be born on or after October 1, 2000. For SC, ST, and PwD candidates, the relaxation is five years.
- Number of Attempts: A candidate can appear for UCEED a maximum of two times and that too in consecutive years.
UCEED 2026 Exam Pattern
The exam will consist of two parts — Part A and Part B.
- Part A will be a computer-based test focusing on design aptitude, analytical reasoning, spatial ability, and visualization.
- Part B will test drawing and creative skills through manual sketching questions. The total duration of the exam is three hours.
UCEED 2026 Admission and Result
Candidates who qualify in UCEED 2026 will be eligible for admission to participating institutes. Admissions will be based on UCEED rank, seat availability, and category reservation norms. The scorecard will be valid only for the academic year 2026–27. The counselling and seat allotment process will begin in April 2026. Students are advised to prepare in alignment with the official syllabus and previous year’s question trends to strengthen their performance.
