The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025 has officially released the rankings for top engineering colleges in India. Once again, the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) have secured the leading positions, with IIT Madras topping the list for the 10th consecutive year.
The rankings were announced on September 4, 2025, by the Ministry of Education, evaluating institutes on six key parameters — teaching, learning and resources; research and professional practice; graduation outcomes; outreach and inclusivity; and peer perception.
Apart from IITs, the list also features several National Institutes of Technology (NITs), state universities, and leading private institutions such as BITS Pilani, VIT, SRM, and Amity University. These rankings serve as a benchmark for students preparing for admission into top B.Tech and engineering programmes.
