TNEA 2025 Choice Filling: Key Guidelines
Important instructions to follow during the course and college preference selection process in TNEA counselling.
- There is no restriction on the number of courses to be selected. Adding more choices increases the likelihood of receiving a favorable allotment.
- Courses from colleges with zero seat availability in the candidate's community or the Open Category (OC) cannot be selected.
- SCA category candidates may choose courses under the SC category if no seats are available under OC or SCA for that course.
- Selected choices can be reordered based on preference. The order of choices is critical, as it directly affects seat allotment priority.
TNEA 2025 Seat Allotment Result
Once the choice filling phase concludes, the Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE) will allocate seats based on the candidate’s preferences, TNEA rank, and community/category. The seat allotment result will be made available through the candidate’s login on the official TNEA website.
The initial allotment will be provisional in nature. The following details will be included in the tentative seat allotment result:
- Candidate’s Name
- Community
- General Rank
- Community Rank
- Application ID
- Allotted Community
- Name of the Branch
- Name of the College
TNEA Cutoff and Score Calculation
Aspiring engineering students in Tamil Nadu must achieve a minimum score, known as the TNEA cutoff, to gain admission into various engineering colleges across the state. Unlike typical entrance exams, the TNEA cutoff is determined solely based on Class 12 marks in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, combined out of a total of 200 marks.
The TNEA score is calculated using the formula:
TNEA Score (out of 200) = Marks in Mathematics + (Physics marks ÷ 2) + (Chemistry marks ÷ 2).
This score is then used to establish the cutoff for admission eligibility.
