Who Can Apply for TN TET 2026?
The TN TET 2026 examination is aimed at in-service teachers appointed in various educational roles across Tamil Nadu. Applicants must have been employed on or before 1 September 2025 in positions such as:
- Secondary Grade Teachers (SGT)
- BT Assistants
- BRTEs and equivalent posts
- Special Education Teachers and related cadres
Teachers working on time-scale pay, consolidated pay, or part-time pay in government, government-aided, and recognised private schools are eligible to apply, provided they meet the appointment criteria.
TN TET 2026 Exam Pattern and Registration Process
The TN TET 2026 exam will be conducted in offline mode using Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheets. Both Paper I and Paper II consist of 150 multiple-choice questions to be answered within a duration of three hours. To complete registration:
- Visit the official TRB website at trb.tn.gov.in.
- Create a login and fill in personal and employment details.
- Upload scanned copies of relevant documents.
- Pay the application fee online before submission.
The general category application fee is INR 600, while candidates from Scheduled Caste (SC), SCA, Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) categories pay INR 300.
TN TET 2026: Qualifying Marks and Eligibility Certificate
To qualify in TN TET 2026, candidates must reach the minimum marks based on category norms. For example:
- General category: 60 per cent (90 marks)
- BC, BCM, MBC/DNC, PwD: 50 per cent (75 marks)
- SC, SCA, ST: 40 per cent (60 marks)
