Tamil Nadu DME has announced that candidates allotted MBBS and BDS seats in Round 2 of 2025 counselling can resign or withdraw from their joined colleges without any fee forfeiture until October 9, 2025. This move ensures a smooth admission process and allows candidates to exercise their option freely within the stipulated period. Candidates resigning after October 9, 2025, 02:00 PM will have to forfeit the security deposit, tuition fees, and additionally pay the discontinuation fees as per the Government quota Clause 23 and Management quota Clauses 20 of the prospectus.
TN MBBS, BDS 2025 Resignation Process
Candidates who wish to resign must follow these steps:
- Login using original credentials on the official counselling portal.
- Download the resignation letter.
- Submit the letter to the concerned college to retrieve original certificates.
This process is applicable only to candidates who have joined or retained seats in Round 1 or Round 2. Candidates who have not joined their allotted seats are not eligible for resignation under this window. The resignation window is open from October 3, 2025, 5:00 PM to October 9, 2025, 2:00 PM. The DME has urged candidates to strictly adhere to these dates to avoid complications
TN MBBS, BDS Management Quota Seat Update
In addition, the Tamil Nadu Health Department clarified that unfilled Reserved Quota seats (NRI, linguistic, and religious minority quotas) will be reverted to the General Management Quota for subsequent counselling rounds. This is as per Management Quota Prospectus G.O.(D) No.602 dated June 5, 2025, Clauses 4-f, 14-VII, 14-VIII, and 14-X. These reverted management quota seats will now be available for allocation in the ongoing counselling round, providing additional opportunities for candidates seeking MBBS and BDS admissions in private colleges under management quota.
