Things to Carry for JEE Main 2026 Session 1: Documents, ID Proof, Dress Code and Exam-Day Rules

The JEE Main 2026 Session 1 examination is currently underway, with exams being conducted from January 21 to January 29, 2026. Following the successful completion of the initial shifts, candidates appearing in the remaining slots must ensure full compliance with NTA’s entry protocols and exam-day instructions. To avoid inconvenience or disqualification at the exam centre, candidates are advised to carry only the mandatory documents and permitted items as specified by the National Testing Agency.

 

Mandatory Documents to Carry for JEE Main 2026

Candidates must carry original and valid documents to the exam centre. Entry will not be allowed without these.

Prohibited Items in JEE Main 2026

Carrying any of the following items may lead to denial of entry or cancellation of candidature:

  • Mobile phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth devices
  • Calculators, log tables, slide rules, docupens
  • Earphones, microphones, cameras
  • Handbags, purses, wallets
  • Printed or handwritten material
  • Food items or loose water
  • Metallic objects or electronic gadgets

NTA follows strict frisking and biometric checks at entry points.

Dress Code for JEE Main 2026

Candidates must follow NTA’s prescribed dress code:

  • Avoid shoes with thick soles
  • Avoid clothing with large buttons, metallic accessories
  • Simple attire is recommended
  • Religious or cultural attire must be reported in advance

Failure to follow dress code instructions may result in delays during frisking.

 

Important NTA Exam-Day Instructions

  • Sit only at the workstation assigned as per roll number
  • Follow invigilator instructions carefully
  • No request for change of centre or shift will be entertained
  • PwD candidates will receive compensatory time as per norms
  • Any unfair practice will lead to strict action
