TANCET 2026 Exam: Key Facts About Negative Marking

The TANCET exam employs a specific marking scheme that candidates must understand to maximize their scores. For every correct answer, candidates earn one mark, while an incorrect answer results in a deduction of 0.25 marks. This penalty can significantly affect overall scores, making it essential for candidates to prioritize accuracy over the number of questions answered.

To effectively manage negative marking, candidates should consider the following strategies:

• Start with questions from subjects where they feel most confident.
• Thoroughly read both the questions and the answer options.
• If uncertain about a question or confused by the options, it is advisable to skip the question rather than guess.

Random guessing can lead to unnecessary mark deductions, which could hinder a candidate's chances of securing admission to top-tier institutions.
