The Tamil Nadu RTE Admission 2025-26 process began on October 6, 2025. The state government will release the official notification, allowing parents to apply for entry-level seats under the Right to Education (RTE) Act for the upcoming academic session. Priority will be given to children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Tamil Nadu RTE Admission 2025-26 Notification And Application Process
The RTE 2025-26 notification is expected to be released shortly. Following this, the online application process for admission in private schools will tentatively start from October 9, 2025. Parents and guardians can submit applications with relevant documents to secure seats under the 25% RTE quota.
Schools must update the number of already filled seats in entry-level classes by October 7, 2025. On October 8, 2025, schools will identify and display 25% seats reserved under RTE through the school login portal.
Document Submission And Verification
From October 9, 2025, parents must upload all necessary documents including:
- Aadhaar card
- Date of birth certificate
- Address proof
- Income certificate
- Community certificate
- Parent Declaration as per G.O. No. 66 dated April 7, 2017
Schools will display lists of eligible and ineligible applicants on October 10 and 13, 2025, along with reasons for any rejection. Parents can submit missing or additional documents during this period.
Final Selection And RTE Seat Allotment
The final list of eligible children will be published on October 14, 2025. If fewer than 25% of seats are filled, schools will tag children under the RTE quota in the EMIS portal by October 15, 2025.
If applications exceed the 25% quota, a random selection process will be conducted on October 16, 2025, and selected children will be tagged in the EMIS portal on October 17, 2025.
Priority Admission And Fee Guidelines
Priority will be given to children who are:
- Orphans
- HIV-affected or infected
- Transgender or differently-abled
- Children of scavengers
Schools cannot collect tuition or admission fees from RTE-eligible children. Any fees already collected must be refunded within seven working days, with confirmation from both the school and parents.
