SSC to Share Non-Selected Candidates’ Scores with PSUs, Govt Bodies

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has announced a major update concerning the post-exam handling of candidate data. Beginning from November 2024, SSC will start sharing the marks, ranks, and personal details of non-selected candidates with Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), government departments, and autonomous bodies to support a wide range of recruitment opportunities. This move is taken to increase employment avenues for aspirants who perform well in SSC exams but do not make it to the final merit list.

What Will Be Shared by SSC?

As per the official update, SSC will share the below-mentioned information about the non-selected candidates:

  • Candidate’s Name
  • Father’s Name
  • Category
  • Gender
  • Educational Qualification
  • Complete Address
  • Email ID
  • Mobile Number
  • Marks Obtained
  • Rank

This policy will be applicable only to students who are not finally selected in any SSC recruitment examination.

Where and How the Data Will Be Shared

To access this data, PSUs, government ministries, and autonomous organisations will have to visit the official SSC website — ssc.nic.in. A separate section titled "Link for PSU/Autonomous Body/Ministry" will be created to provide this information.

Recruiting bodies must register with the Commission and obtain approval to access this database. SSC will make sure that only authorised users are allowed access, and all activities will be monitored for security and transparency.

Effective Timeline

This data-sharing initiative will begin with results declared in November 2024 and onwards. Any recruitment exam result published before this date will not be included under the new policy.

Reason Behind the Decision

SSC aims to increase the employment opportunities for candidates who actually deserve them and reduce repetitive testing across government bodies. With this step, other public institutions can consider previously tested and verified candidates, saving both time and resources during their hiring processes.

Candidate Privacy and Consent

While the Commission has not yet detailed the opting mechanism, future notifications will clearly explain how candidates can manage consent for sharing their personal information. The SSC has assured that all data-sharing practices will comply with the RTI Act and other applicable privacy regulations.
