SSC Reduces Exam Notice Duration to 21 Days in a Move Aimed at Speeding Up the Recruitment Process. Union Minister of State for Personnel, Jitendra Singh, told the Rajya Sabha that this reform is part of several measures introduced by the commission to shorten its overall recruitment cycle.
Major Reforms Introduced by SSC
Several measures have been implemented to streamline the recruitment process. Below is a summary of the key changes.
These measures have significantly reduced the recruitment cycle duration from 15 to 18 months to 6 to 10 months.
Role of the e-Dossier System
SSC has launched a centralised online e-dossier system. This digital platform ensures the secure handling of students' records. Features include role-based access, unique tracking numbers for dossiers, and digital monitoring at every stage. The system has already been used in major SSC exams such as:
- Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Examination 2024
- Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) Examination 2024
- Junior Engineer (JE) Examination 2024
- Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) and Havaldar Examination 2024
The e-dossier system has reduced reliance on physical files and sped up pre-appointment verification.
Benefits of the SSC Reform Measures
The reforms introduced by the Staff Selection Commission are designed to streamline the hiring process, making it faster, more transparent, and more candidate-friendly. These changes have brought several important changes, directly impacting both applicants and government departments.
- Reduce waiting time for candidates by creating tighter exam schedules.
- Ensure faster pre-appointment verification through digital tracking.
- Provide efficient coordination between SSC and ministries.
- Lower dependency on physical paperwork, ensuring eco-friendly processing.
SSC Regional Language Push
Since 2022, SSC has been conducting three nationwide examinations, MTS and Havaldar, CHSL, and Constable (GD), in 13 regional languages, apart from Hindi and English. This initiative aims to promote inclusivity and provide equal opportunities to candidates from diverse linguistic backgrounds. Other recruiting agencies, such as the UPSC, IBPS, and RRBs, also conduct exams in multiple regional languages, ensuring accessibility across the country.
