The SSC GD Constable Exam 2026 has been officially postponed and will no longer be held from 23 February 2026 as earlier scheduled. The Staff Selection Commission will announce fresh exam dates, city intimation slips and admit card schedule in due course.
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has postponed the General Duty (GD) Constable Examination 2026, which was set to begin on 23 February 2026, until further notice. The Computer-Based Test (CBT) for recruitment to 25,487 posts in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), SSF and as Rifleman (GD) in Assam Rifles will be rescheduled with new dates to be announced on the official SSC website ssc.gov.in.
Why Is the SSC GD Exam 2026 Postponed?
According to the official notice released by SSC on 17 February 2026, the CAPFs and GD online examination has been deferred and will not be conducted on the originally scheduled dates. The commission has stated that slot selection facilities will not be available for this cycle, and candidates will be allotted cities and shifts automatically once the new schedule is declared.
- Original Exam Start Date: 23 February 2026
- Status: Postponed till further notice
- Recruitment Posts: 25,487 Constable (GD) vacancies across CAPFs, SSF, Assam Rifles
- Admit Card Notice: To be released 2–3 days before the new exam date
- City Intimation Slip: Expected 8–10 days before the exam
Candidates are advised to keep preparing as the extra time can be used to revise key sections of the exam such as General Intelligence & Reasoning, Elementary Mathematics, English Language and General Awareness used in the SSC GD CBT pattern.
Slot Booking and Admit Card Updates
Unlike some previous SSC examinations, the commission will not provide a slot booking option for SSC GD 2026. Instead, once the schedule is announced, each candidate will be assigned a specific exam date, shift, and city by SSC. The admit card will be generated and available for download a few days before the candidate’s assigned exam date.
What Aspirants Should Do Now?
- Regularly visit ssc.gov.in for official updates on revised dates and admit card release.
- Prepare using mock tests and past year papers to strengthen areas like reasoning, maths, English and awareness.
- Keep documents like registration number and date of birth ready to access admit cards once available.
Stay tuned for updates on the new calendar and related procedures for the SSC GD Constable Exam 2026.
