SSC GD 2026 Exam Week Preference: What Candidates Should Know. The Staff Selection Commission has introduced a new feature allowing candidates to select their preferred exam week. This change aims to provide flexibility and reduce exam-related pressure.
SSC GD 2026 Exam Schedule and New Week Preference Feature
The SSC GD 2026 exam will be conducted over multiple days and shifts due to the large number of applicants. As per recent updates, the exam process is expected to run from late April to May 2026. A key change this year is the introduction of the exam week preference option, allowing candidates to choose a suitable time window instead of being randomly assigned a date. This initiative is aimed at improving convenience and managing large-scale exam logistics more efficiently.
How SSC GD 2026 Exam Week Preference Works?
The exam week preference system allows candidates to indicate their availability within a given range of dates. However, final allotment depends on seat availability and administrative factors. Key points include:
- Candidates can select their preferred exam week during the process
- Final exam date and shift will be allotted by SSC
- Allocation depends on availability and system scheduling
- Exact details will be mentioned on the admit card
Candidates should note that preferences increase flexibility but do not guarantee selection of the exact date.
SSC GD 2026 Exam Mode and Shift Details
The SSC GD exam is conducted as a computer-based test across multiple centres. It is held in several shifts each day to accommodate all candidates. Typical shift structure includes:
- Multiple shifts per day (usually 3–4 shifts)
- Each shift conducted for a fixed duration
- Reporting time and exam timing mentioned in admit card
This multi-shift format ensures smooth conduct of the large-scale recruitment exam.
Important Instructions for SSC GD 2026 Candidates

- Select exam week preference carefully within deadline
- Regularly check ssc.gov.in for updates

- Carry valid ID proof and required documents

- Complete all application and preference steps on time
- Prepare according to exam pattern and syllabus
- Stay updated with official notifications
This new feature is expected to streamline the SSC GD 2026 examination process while offering candidates more flexibility.
