The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is set to declare the CGL Tier 1 result 2025 by December 2025, according to SSC Chairman S. Gopalakrishnan. He also confirmed that the CGL Tier 2 exams will be conducted in January or February 2026. The Tier 1 exam was held from September 12 to 26, 2025, across 255 centres in 126 cities nationwide. Out of approximately 28 lakh registered candidates, more than 13.5 lakh appeared for the computer-based test.
Re-Exam Conducted in October 2025
A re-exam took place on October 14, 2025, for candidates who faced technical difficulties at specific centres during the initial sessions. Following the re-exam, the provisional answer keys and response sheets were made available on October 17, 2025, on the official SSC portal —ssc.gov.in. Candidates were allowed to raise objections until October 19, 2025. SSC reportedly received around 1,000 objections concerning 4,500 questions spread across 45 shifts.
Chairman Gopalakrishnan stated that the evaluation process involves reviewing every objection thoroughly, as each of the 45 papers includes unique sets of questions. This comprehensive scrutiny has extended the result preparation timeline. “The Commission must ensure fairness and accuracy before releasing the merit list. Given the scale — 45 shifts and nearly 4,500 questions — the process demands meticulous review,” said Gopalakrishnan, as reported by NDTV.
