The SSC has released the first round of tentative allocations for the CGL 2025 exam, detailing cut-offs and the sliding mechanism for candidates.

SSC CGL 2025 First Round Allocation Results Announced

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially announced the first round of tentative allocations for the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Examination 2025. This pivotal update follows the declaration of the Tier-I results on December 18, 2025, and the Tier-II examination, which took place on January 18 and 19, 2026, in a computer-based format.

The first round of tentative allocations (FRTA) was conducted in accordance with a notice issued on March 3, 2026. This notice introduced a sliding mechanism aimed at optimizing the allocation process for candidates who successfully qualified in Tier-II. To be eligible for further evaluation, candidates were required to submit their option-cum-preferences online and achieve the minimum cut-off marks in both Section-I and Section-II of Paper-I in Tier-II.

Those who did not meet the cut-offs for Sections I and II were deemed ineligible for evaluation in the subsequent sections, which include the Computer Knowledge Test (CKT) and the Data Entry Speed Test (DEST).

Cut-Off Marks for Tier-II Examination

The cut-off marks for Section-I and Section-II of the Tier-II examination are crucial for candidates aiming to progress further in the selection process. The minimum qualifying marks are set as follows:

CategorySection-ISection-IISection-III (CKT)Section-IV (DEST)
UR30%30%60%20%
OBC/EWS25%25%60%25%
All Other Categories20%20%60%30%

In Section-IV (DEST), candidates are allowed a maximum error percentage based on their category, which is vital for those applying for positions requiring computer proficiency.

Sliding Mechanism and Next Steps

The introduction of the sliding mechanism is a significant aspect of the allocation process. This system aims to maximize the utilization of available vacancies while minimizing the number of unfilled posts. Candidates who wish to participate in this process must select their preferred venue, date, and slot for sliding through the SSC website between April 8 and April 10, 2026.

The sliding process will be conducted at regional offices, with specific dates allocated for different regions. For the Northern Region, the sliding will occur from April 13 to April 22, 2026, while for all other regions, it will take place from April 13 to April 18, 2026. It is crucial for candidates to attend in person, as failure to do so will result in exclusion from the final allocation.

Final Results and Further Information

As part of the ongoing evaluation process, the SSC has withheld the results of 107 candidates due to various reasons. The final allocations remain contingent upon the outcomes of pending Supreme Court orders related to SLP (C) No. 7246/2026 and Writ Petition WP (C) No. 1733/2026. Candidates can access the direct links for the JSO SI FRTA List-1 and other posts FRTA List-2 results on the SSC website.

Additionally, the final answer keys have been released following the review of representations, and detailed marks for both selected and non-selected candidates will be made available on the SSC website in due course.
