Chennai (Tamil Nadu) on December 31, 2025, the SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) has outlined the eligibility criteria for the SRM Joint Engineering Entrance Examination (SRMJEEE) 2026 for candidates planning to apply for B.Tech admissions through the entrance test. Prospective candidates must fulfil nationality, age and academic requirements to be considered for the SRMJEEE 2026 entrance process. The eligibility framework ensures that applicants possess the minimum academic proficiency and age necessary to succeed in rigorous undergraduate engineering programmes at SRMIST campuses across India.
Nationality and Age Requirements for SRMJEEE 2026 Application
To be eligible for SRMJEEE 2026, candidates must be Resident Indians, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), or holders of PIO or OCI cards issued by the Government of India. Applicants should have attained the age of 16 years and 6 months by July 31, 2025, to satisfy the minimum age criterion, and there is generally no specified upper age limit for the exam.
Academic Qualification and Subject Requirements for SRMJEEE 2026
Candidates must have passed or be appearing in the 10+2 (Higher Secondary) or equivalent examination in the current academic year from a recognised board such as CBSE, ICSE, State Boards, NIOS or IB. The mandatory subjects for eligibility are:
- Physics and Mathematics for most B.Tech programmes, plus
- At least one additional subject chosen from Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, Information Technology, Informatics Practices, Engineering Graphics, Botany or Zoology.
Additionally, candidates are expected to secure a minimum aggregate of 60% in these key subjects at the 10+2 level to meet the eligibility threshold for SRMJEEE B.Tech admissions.
Minimum Marks Criteria Across SRMIST Campuses
Specific minimum aggregate marks required for eligibility vary by campus affiliation within the SRM group:
- Kattankulathur (Main Campus): 60% aggregate in key subjects.
- Ramapuram (Chennai) & Vadapalani (Chennai): 60% aggregate.
- SRM University - Andhra Pradesh: 60% aggregate.
- SRM Delhi NCR (Ghaziabad) & SRM University- Sonepat (Haryana): 50% aggregate.
These campus-based thresholds reflect different admission policies across the SRMIST network while maintaining a core academic standard for SRMJEEE 2026 eligibility.
Special Stream Eligibility and Restrictions
For programmes such as Biotechnology, Genetic Engineering or Biomedical Engineering, students who have studied Biology alongside Physics and Chemistry at the 10+2 level are eligible, even if they did not take Mathematics as a compulsory subject. Students holding engineering diplomas are generally not eligible for direct SRMJEEE UG admission and must pursue lateral entry admission channels for second-year B.Tech if applicable.
