SPPU Reschedules Exams Amid Maharashtra Local Elections, CHeck Details

Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has announced a revised examination schedule for exams falling between December 1 to December 3, 2025, in view of the upcoming Maharashtra local self-government elections on December 2. The decision comes as teaching and non-teaching staff, along with college premises, are often engaged in election-related duties during this period, prompting the higher education department to intervene. State Director of Education Shailendra Deolankar directed all non-agricultural universities to avoid scheduling examinations during the three-day election window to ensure smooth electoral processes and avoid inconveniencing students and staff.

Revised SPPU Examination Timetable

The revised schedule has been published on the SPPU official website, covering various courses. Exams scheduled outside the December 1-3 window will continue as per the original timetable. Below is a detailed summary of the rescheduled exams:

These adjustments were necessary to ensure smooth conduct of elections, prevent staff shortages at exam centres, and avoid logistical issues for students and faculty engaged in polling duties

Impact on Students and Faculty

Students are advised to check the revised timetable online and plan accordingly. The university has reassured that the changes will not affect exams scheduled outside the election window. University officials emphasised that exam fairness and administrative efficiency remain priorities, even as institutions adapt to state-level election schedules. Students appearing for LL.M, B.Arch, engineering, and Arts language papers should note the changes to avoid missing exams or reporting on incorrect dates. The higher education department’s proactive approach ensures that both democratic responsibilities and academic commitments are respected, striking a balance between public service and educational obligations.

Ensuring Election-Era Academic Continuity

By reconstituting exam dates, SPPU demonstrates responsible governance while safeguarding student interests. Such adjustments highlight the challenges universities face in maintaining academic continuity amidst external events like elections. Authorities have encouraged students and faculty to remain updated through official channels to avoid confusion and ensure participation in both academic and civic duties.
