A special educational initiative has been launched to introduce school and college students to the Indian Constitution. The programme has been announced by Rajiv Patil, the first mayor of the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation, to mark 75 Years of the Indian Constitution. It aims to present essential constitutional principles in a simple and engaging format for young learners.
The initiative focuses on helping students understand the core ideas of justice, liberty, equality and fraternity, along with the rights and duties laid out in the Constitution.
Constitution Awareness Programme: Books and Launch Details
As part of the initiative, Marathi and English editions of the book ‘Our Constitution’, written by Padmashri Ramesh Patange, will be released on Wednesday at 5 PM. Organisers have also confirmed that a Hindi edition will be made available soon to ensure wider reach among students across linguistic backgrounds.
The following lines highlight the central purpose behind releasing the book. The book simplifies key constitutional concepts making them accessible to students. At a press conference held at Yash Vidya Niketan Global School in Virar West, Rajiv Patil said that the initiative will help students grasp the significance of the Constitution and understand the responsibilities of citizenship.
Students, Activities and Learning Plans Under the Initiative
Students from standards 8 to 12 at Yash Vidya Niketan Global School will receive targeted instruction on the Indian Constitution. Patil noted that many citizens lack awareness of fundamental rights, and educating students early will encourage responsible citizenship.
The next explanation outlines the interactive elements included in the programme to engage students. The initiative will feature competitions for students from various schools in the city. Activities include:
- Elocution
- Essay writing
- Poster making
- News anchoring
These events aim to promote participation, creativity and civic understanding among students.
Key Guests and Event Outlook
The programme will be attended by several notable guests, including Dr Sanjay Deshmukh, former Mumbai University Vice-Chancellor, and Advocate Suresh Kamat. They will interact with students and support the educational effort.
Organisers have stated that the broader goal is to strengthen civic awareness and instil a deeper sense of responsibility among young citizens. The initiative seeks to prepare students for active participation in democratic processes and contribute meaningfully to national development in the future.
With the release of the multilingual editions of ‘Our Constitution’ and the series of engaging activities planned, the programme is set to help the next generation understand the foundational principles of the country.
