RRB Group D Exam Date 2026 Out: CBT Schedule for CEN 09/2025

The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has officially announced the RRB Group D Exam Date 2026 for CEN 09/2025 through a notice released on July 03, 2026. As per the schedule, the Computer Based Test (CBT) will be conducted from August 03 to August 21, 2026, across multiple examination centres in the country, bringing relief to lakhs of candidates who had been awaiting this update.

RRB Group D 2026 Recruitment Overview

This recruitment drive falls under CEN 09/2025, through which RRB aims to fill 22,195 Level 1 vacancies across posts such as Pointsman, Assistant, Track Maintainer, Assistant Loco Shed, Assistant Operations, and Assistant TL & AC. The detailed notification for this recruitment cycle was released on January 30, 2026, and online applications were accepted from January 31 to March 09, 2026. Selected candidates will be placed under the 7th CPC Pay Matrix Level 1, with a starting basic pay of INR 18,000 per month, along with allowances such as Dearness Allowance, Transport Allowance, and House Rent Allowance.

RRB Group D CBT Exam Pattern

Candidates appearing for the CBT should be aware of the exam structure before beginning their final preparation:

• The exam consists of 100 objective-type questions carrying 100 marks.
• The total exam duration is 90 minutes, extended to 120 minutes for PwBD candidates who avail a scribe.
• A negative marking of one-third mark is applicable for every incorrect answer.
• Questions are asked from General Science, Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, and General Awareness & Current Affairs.
• The test will be available in English, Hindi, and 13 regional Indian languages.

Candidates who clear the CBT will subsequently be shortlisted for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), which remains qualifying in nature and does not carry marks in the final merit list.

City Intimation Slip and Admit Card Schedule

Ahead of the examination, RRB will release two key documents that candidates must track closely:

• The City Intimation Slip will be made available approximately 10 days before each candidate's scheduled exam date, with the first slip expected around July 24, 2026. This slip informs candidates of their allotted exam city, date, and shift, but cannot be used for entry into the examination centre.
• The Admit Card, which is mandatory for entry, will be released about four days before the exam date. It will carry details such as the exam centre address, reporting time, candidate information, and important exam-day instructions.

Candidates are advised to download both documents from their respective regional RRB websites using their registration credentials once the links are activated.

Selection Process and Preparation Tips

The RRB Group D selection process for CEN 09/2025 will proceed in three stages: the Computer Based Test, the Physical Efficiency Test, and Document Verification, followed by a medical examination for finally selected candidates. Since the exam is scheduled to run over multiple days and shifts, RRB will apply a normalisation process to ensure fairness in scoring across all sessions. With the exam date now confirmed, candidates are advised to focus their remaining preparation time on structured revision, regular mock tests, and previous year question papers. Reviewing Class 10-level General Science concepts, practising Mathematics formulas, and staying updated with current affairs are expected to help candidates improve both speed and accuracy ahead of the CBT.
