The Rajasthan Public Service Commission has revised the RAS syllabus for the 2026 examination, introducing major changes in prelims and mains papers.

RPSC RAS Syllabus Revised for 2026 Exam; Major Pattern Changes

RPSC RAS syllabus has been revised for the 2026 examination, marking the first major overhaul since 2013, as announced by the Rajasthan Public Service Commission. Around 25 percent of the syllabus has been modified for the Rajasthan State and Subordinate Services Combined Competitive Examination. The revised syllabus will be applicable from the RAS 2026 examination cycle onward.

Sports and Yoga Module Removed from RAS Prelims

As per the revised syllabus, the 20-mark sports and yoga module has been removed from the RAS preliminary examination. In its place, provisions related to the Rajasthan Examination Act, 2022 have been introduced. This change alters the focus of the prelims paper by increasing emphasis on legal and administrative awareness relevant to the state.

Key Changes in RAS Mains Examination Pattern

The RAS mains examination pattern has also undergone significant restructuring. Earlier, the mains exam comprised four papers, including three General Knowledge papers and one paper on General Hindi and English. Under the revised syllabus:

  • The number of modules in the General Knowledge papers has been rationalised
  • Weightage of law and management sections has been increased
  • All two-mark questions have been eliminated
  • Questions will now carry 5 marks and 10 marks only

Revised Structure of Hindi and English Paper

The General Hindi and English paper has been restructured into three parts. Hindi and English sections now carry fixed marks, along with an essay section. Candidates are now required to write one essay in either Hindi or English, instead of multiple compulsory essays. The earlier short two-mark questions have been replaced with descriptive questions carrying higher marks.

RPSC Exam Calendar 2026 Released

Along with the syllabus revision, RPSC has released the exam calendar for 2026, covering 18 major recruitment examinations. The recruitment cycle will begin in January 2026 and continue until the last week of December 2026.
