Rashmi Goyal, a first-time CAT aspirant from New Delhi, appeared for CAT 2025 Slot 1 after preparing through paid offline coaching. Sharing her experience after the exam, she stated that the overall performance assessment would largely depend on the final difficulty level of each section. Based on her attempt strategy and accuracy expectations, she is aiming for a percentile above 95.
CAT 2025 First Attempt Journey of Rashmi Goyal
Rashmi Goyal appeared for CAT for the first time in 2025 after completing her graduation and enrolling in a structured offline coaching program in New Delhi. She followed a disciplined classroom-based preparation approach focusing on concept clarity, sectional practice, and full-length mocks. According to her feedback, the preparation phase involved:
- Regular VARC reading practice
- Timed LRDI set solving
- Daily Quant speed drills
- Weekly full-length mock analysis
She mentioned that despite consistent preparation, exam day pressure remained significant, as CAT tests not just knowledge but also endurance and time management.
Section-Wise Feedback From CAT 2025 Slot 1
Before interpreting score expectations, Rashmi explained that CAT 2025 Slot 1 demanded balanced performance across all sections. No single section was completely scoring without sustained focus. Her section-wise observations were as follows:
- VARC: Moderate difficulty with a mix of direct and inference-based questions. Accuracy mattered more than speed.
- LRDI: The most demanding section due to logic-heavy and layered sets. Choosing the right set proved crucial.
- Quant: Calculation-intensive with emphasis on Arithmetic and Algebra, requiring clear conceptual application.
She added that mental stamina played a decisive role, especially in the middle phase of the paper when fatigue typically sets in.
Expected Percentile and Performance Outlook
Rashmi stated clearly that her final percentile expectation will depend on normalization and slot-wise difficulty comparison. However, based on her attempt accuracy, she is confident of crossing the 95 percentile mark, provided the overall paper is rated moderate to difficult across all slots. She emphasized that for first-time candidates, maintaining calm under pressure was the biggest challenge, and that mock test performance helped significantly in managing exam anxiety.
Message for Future CAT Aspirants
Sharing advice for future candidates, Rashmi highlighted the importance of:
- Structured preparation over shortcut strategies
- Consistent mock testing with deep analysis
- Equal focus on accuracy and attempt selection
- Avoiding last-minute panic-driven revisions
She also stressed that offline classroom coaching helped in building conceptual depth, especially for LRDI and Quant.
