December 29, 2025: Panjab University (PU) has revised the schedule for the Panjab University Tourism & Hospitality Aptitude Test (PUTHAT) 2026, moving the entrance exam to 15 May 2026 to better align with the admission cycle and accommodate candidates’ preparation timelines. The test is conducted for admission to Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (BHMCT) and Bachelor of Tourism and Travel Management (BTTM) programmes at the University Institute of Hotel and Tourism Management (UIHTM), Chandigarh. Under the revised schedule, candidates can submit their applications online on the official portal puchd.ac.in until May 4, 2026. The decision to defer the exam from its earlier date reflects PU’s effort to synchronise entrance tests with other academic calendars and provide adequate time for aspirants to complete application procedures and preparation.

The updated PUTHAT 2026 important dates include multiple deadlines leading up to the entrance exam on 15 May 2026. Candidates must note each timeline to ensure their applications are successfully processed.

  • Last date for fee payment (online): May 4, 2026
  • Last date for uploading photograph and signature: May 6, 2026
  • Admit card availability: May 12, 2026
  • Late fee application deadline: May 13, 2026
  • PUTHAT 2026 exam date and time: 15 May 2026 (10:00 AM–11:30 AM)
  • Tentative result date: May 29, 2026

The entrance test will be held only in Chandigarh and will consist of 100 multiple-choice questions covering English aptitude, current affairs and general awareness, reasoning ability, and hospitality industry awareness. Candidates are allotted 90 minutes to complete the exam, with negative marking applied for incorrect answers.

 

Application Process for PUTHAT 2026

Candidates seeking admission through PUTHAT 2026 must complete the online application process on puchd.ac.in. The application fee is Rs 2,850 for general category candidates and Rs 1,425 for SC/ST/PwD applicants. The key steps include:

  1. Visit the official Panjab University PUTHAT portal and register to generate a login ID.
  2. Complete the form by uploading required documents such as a photograph and signature.
  3. Pay the applicable entrance test fee online.
  4. Download the admit card when it becomes available from May 12, 2026.
