Punjab Extends NEET PG Round 3 Counselling Deadline to 08 January 2026

Punjab Extends NEET PG Counselling Round 3 Deadline to 08 January amid continued uncertainty over the national counselling timeline. The extension applies to candidates seeking admission to postgraduate medical programmes in the state under NEET PG 2025. The decision has been taken while authorities await further clarity on the All India Quota counselling schedule. The revised deadline offers applicants an additional day to complete the registration process for round 3.

BFUHS Extends Punjab NEET PG Round 3 Registration Deadline

The registration window for Punjab NEET PG 2025 counselling round 3 has been extended by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences. As per the updated schedule, candidates can now submit their applications until 08 January 2026. The university issued the notification through its official portal while state authorities continue to monitor developments at the national counselling level.

Punjab NEET PG Round 3 Participation Data

According to data released by BFUHS, a total of 595 candidates have already expressed willingness to participate in round 3 counselling. Of these, 435 candidates opted for both government and private medical colleges, while 160 candidates selected government colleges only. Officials believe the deadline extension may allow additional aspirants to join the counselling process and improve seat utilisation across institutions.

Courses Covered Under Punjab NEET PG Counselling 2025

The Punjab NEET PG counselling process covers multiple postgraduate medical programmes. These include Doctor of Medicine (MD), Master of Surgery (MS), Post MBBS Diploma, Post MBBS DNB, and a six-month ultrasonography training programme. Admissions are conducted for both government and private medical colleges across the state through the centralised counselling mechanism.

Security Deposit and Registration Fee Details

Candidates applying to government medical colleges are required to submit a security deposit. The amount is INR 25,000 for general category candidates and INR 10,000 for reserved category candidates. For private medical colleges, applicants must deposit INR 2,00,000, irrespective of category. In addition, the registration fee for counselling is INR 5,900 for general category candidates and INR 2,950 for Scheduled Caste candidates, inclusive of 18% GST. Payments must be made online through the university portal.

National NEET PG Counselling Status and MCC Timeline

At the national level, the Medical Counselling Committee has not yet issued a final clarification regarding NEET PG round 3 counselling. The revised national schedule released in December indicated that AIQ round 3 counselling was expected to conclude by 02 January 2026, with colleges required to submit admission data by 12 January 2026. Punjab’s decision to extend the state counselling deadline reflects the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the national timeline.

What Candidates Should Do Next?

Candidates participating in Punjab NEET PG counselling are advised to complete registration within the extended deadline and regularly monitor official updates. Further announcements regarding the remaining counselling rounds are expected once the national schedule is formally confirmed.
