Punjab AI Hackathon Trains Over 1000 Government School Students as part of a major initiative to integrate emerging technologies into school education. The programme aimed to equip students with practical AI skills and innovation-driven learning.

 

AI Hackathon Initiative by Punjab School Education Board

The AI hackathon was organised by the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) as the culmination of a pilot project focused on Artificial Intelligence education. The initiative was conducted in collaboration with technology partners and aimed at introducing students to future-ready skills. More than 1,000 students and 22 teachers from 22 schools participated in the programme. These participants underwent a structured 12-week online training programme led by AI experts, focusing on practical and interactive learning.

 

Training Focus on Emerging Technologies and Skills

The programme emphasised building strong foundations in Artificial Intelligence and related emerging technologies. Students were trained in areas such as:

  • AI-based project development
  • Web development and digital tools
  • Business planning and innovation
  • Creative content and video presentation

The initiative aimed to enhance technical skills, creativity, leadership and problem-solving abilities among students, preparing them for future careers.

 

Hackathon Participation and Project Presentations

The final hackathon event saw active participation from selected teams showcasing their projects. A total of 60 students from 20 schools presented innovative solutions developed using AI tools. These projects were evaluated by experts based on:

  • Innovation and technical execution
  • Business feasibility
  • Creativity and presentation
  • Application of AI concepts

This competitive platform provided students with real-world exposure to technology-driven problem solving.

 

Winners and Recognition at AI Hackathon

Top-performing schools were recognised for their innovative projects during the event. Key winners included:

  • First Prize: PSEB Adarsh Senior Secondary School, Khatkar Kalan
  • Second Prize: Ravinder Khullar Memorial GM Model Senior Secondary School, Jalandhar
  • Third Prize: Shaheed Udham Singh Wala Government Senior Secondary School (Boys), Sunam

Consolation prizes were also awarded to participating schools for notable contributions and performance

 

Expansion Plans for AI Education in Punjab

The initiative received support from the state government, highlighting its importance in modern education. Officials stated that the programme is not just a competition but a step towards preparing students for future technological demands. The government plans to expand this AI training initiative to more schools in upcoming academic sessions, reinforcing its focus on innovation-driven education and digital learning. This initiative reflects a broader shift towards integrating Artificial Intelligence into school education, ensuring that students from government schools gain access to advanced technological skills and opportunities.
