Prof. Rajendra Singh (Rajju Bhaiya) State University (PRSU) will introduce a four-year BA-BEd integrated programme from the academic session 2026-27. The decision aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and aims to strengthen teacher education through a structured professional framework. The new programme will follow the Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) model approved by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). The proposal has already received clearance from the Academic Council and Executive Council of the university and is now awaiting final approval from NCTE.
BA-BEd Course to Follow National Training Framework
The BA-BEd integrated course is designed as a professional four-year programme combining academic discipline with teaching training. Unlike the traditional pathway where students complete a Bachelor of Arts followed by a Bachelor of Education, this integrated structure allows direct entry into the teaching profession after four years of study. As per official confirmation, the curriculum will include:
- Core BA subject studies
- Pedagogical skills training
- Classroom management techniques
- Educational psychology
- Practical teaching internships
This structure ensures both academic depth and professional readiness across all four years of training.
Direct Eligibility for TGT Posts After Completion
One of the biggest advantages of the PRSU BA-BEd course 2026 is that graduates will become directly eligible for Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) recruitment without needing a separate BEd degree. This reform is expected to reduce the overall training timeline and streamline entry into the school education system. University officials stated that this initiative will help meet the growing demand for professionally trained teachers while maintaining uniform standards as laid down in NEP 2020.
Final Launch Subject to NCTE Approval
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Akhilesh Kumar Singh confirmed that preparations at the university level are almost complete. The course will be formally launched after the final NCTE approval is received. Infrastructure planning, faculty alignment, and course structure have already been mapped as per regulatory guidelines.
NEP 2020 Focus on Integrated Teacher Education
The launch of the four-year BA-BEd programme reflects the broader reforms introduced under NEP 2020, which mandates that by the year two thousand thirty, the four-year integrated teacher education model should become the minimum qualification for school teachers across India. Education experts believe that early professional training will improve classroom effectiveness, learning outcomes, and the overall credibility of the teaching profession.
