National Institute of Animal Biotechnology (NIAB), under the aegis of the Biotechnology Research Innovation Council (BRIC) and the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, has announced its PhD in Biotechnology programme for the 2025-26 academic session (RSP-II) at its Hyderabad campus. This programme offers outstanding life-sciences candidates the opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research in animal health, transgenic technologies, disease biology and related domains at a premier research institute.

 

Programme Overview

The PhD in Biotechnology at NIAB is designed to cultivate scientific inquiry, innovation and high-impact research in animal biotechnology and allied life-science fields. Eligibility & Application Details

 

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the PhD programme, candidates must meet the following:

  • A Master’s degree (MSc, MTech, MVSc or MPharm) or an MBBS / BTech in Life Sciences from a recognized institution.
  • Valid fellowship/scholarship status such as CSIR/UGC/DBT/ICMR / INSPIRE NET JRF or an equivalent national research fellowship. Note: GATE/MPAT alone does not qualify.

 

Application Procedure

  • Apply online via the NIAB application portal by 30 November 2025.
  • Upload scanned academic & fellowship certificates during online submission.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interview via video-conference (scheduled for 16–17 December 2025).
  • Selected applicants will join the programme by 12 January 2026.
