Orissa High Court Questions Government Over MBBS Fee Hike

Orissa High Court releases the notice to the OJEE Cell of Skill Development and Technical Education Department and the Director of Medical Education and Training. The notice was issued after a preliminary hearing of petitions by Manash Ranjan Pathak and Mruganka Sekhar Sahoo due to the increase in the MBBS fee in the private universities.

The Orissa High Court came into the case when the petition was filed against the government’s fee hike in the MBBS courses offered in private universities under the Hi-Tech Group in Bhubaneshwar and Rourkela. The petition was filed on August 16, 2025, after the notification was released by the state government related to the revised fee structure. The petitioners are facing financial difficulties in arranging the funds or getting educational loans.

The Orissa High Court stated that if the petitioners have submitted the fees as per the revised structure, then it shall be subject to the outcome of the writ petition.

The case has been shifted to August 26, 2025, by the Orissa High Court.
