OPSC and OSSSC Exam Clash 2025: Odisha Aspirants Face Schedule

A major schedule overlap has left thousands of Odisha government job aspirants in confusion as the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) and the Odisha Sub-ordinate Staff Selection Commission (OSSSC) have announced exam timings that clash on the same day, Sunday.

OPSC and OSSSC Exams Scheduled on the Same Day

The OPSC Assistant Section Officer (ASO) exam is scheduled to be conducted in three shifts — 9:00 AM, 11:30 AM, and 2:30 PM. On the same day, the OSSSC will hold its Revenue Inspector (RI), Assistant Revenue Inspector (ARI), and ICDS (Integrated Child Development Services) recruitment exams. The first OSSSC paper is set from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM, which directly overlaps with the first OPSC ASO paper.

Aspirants Raise Concerns Over Clash

Many candidates who applied for both exams have expressed frustration, citing poor coordination between OPSC and OSSSC. The overlapping schedule means aspirants will have to choose between the two exams, missing an important opportunity. A candidate, Sunil Mishra, shared, “Those who appear for the ASO exam will need to attend all three papers, while the OSSSC paper overlaps with the first one. It’s practically impossible to appear in both.”

No Official Response Yet from Commissions

Despite repeated concerns raised by candidates on social media and through emails, neither commission has released an official clarification. The absence of coordination has raised questions about planning in the recruitment process, especially as both exams cater to a large pool of graduate-level applicants across the state. The issue has gained traction among job seekers and coaching institutes, with several urging authorities to reschedule one of the exams to prevent loss of opportunity for deserving candidates.

What Happens Next?

As of now, there is no update from OPSC or OSSSC regarding any changes in schedule. Aspirants have requested intervention from the state government to resolve the timing conflict. Candidates are advised to monitor the official websites — opsc.gov.in and osssc.gov.in — for any future notices or revised exam dates.
