Odisha Private Medical Colleges Hike MBBS Fees by 75% from 2025

Odisha MBBS 2025 fees hiked by 75% in private medical colleges. From the academic session 2025-26, MBBS course fees at Hi-Tech Medical College Bhubaneswar, Hi-Tech Medical College Rourkela, and DRIEMS Medical College Cuttack have been raised by nearly 75%. A similar increase has also been implemented for postgraduate medical courses.

Odisha MBBS 2025 Fee Hike Impact on Students

The changed fee structure is expected to put an additional financial burden on medical students. Many families already struggle with the high cost of medical education, and this sudden hike makes MBBS in Odisha’s private colleges far less affordable. Along with MBBS, PG medical courses will also see a significant rise in tuition fees.

Odisha MBBS 2025 Government Approval of Fee Hike

The Odisha Government has officially approved the revised fee structure under the Odisha Professional Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admission & Fixation of Fee) Act, 2007. The decision was based on the recommendations of the Fee Structure Committee in meetings held in November 2023 and September 2024.

Odisha MBBS Revised Fee Structure (2025-26 to 2027-28)

The table below provides a brief comparison between the old fees and the revised fees applicable to MBBS courses in Odisha’s private medical colleges.

Name of the Institute

Course

Previous Fee Structure

Revised Fee Structure (2025-26 onwards)

DRIEMS Institute of Health Sciences & Hospital, Cuttack

₹6,50,000

₹9,08,000

Hi-Tech Medical College & Hospital, Rourkela

MBBS

₹5,50,000

₹8,54,000

Hi-Tech Medical College & Hospital, Bhubaneswar

MBBS

₹6,50,000

₹11,56,000

Why was the Odisha MBBS 2025 Fee Increased?

The revision has been linked to the rising costs of running private medical institutions, faculty salaries, infrastructure upgrades, and clinical facilities. Critics argue that such steep hikes may discourage deserving students from pursuing medical education unless they secure a place under the government quota seats.

Odisha MBBS 2025 Conclusion

With the 75% fee hike, Odisha joins the list of states where private medical education is becoming increasingly expensive. While colleges cite operational costs, the move is expected to spark debate among parents, students, and education activists. Students planning to join MBBS or PG programmes in Odisha private colleges must be prepared for higher financial commitments from the 2025-26 academic session onwards.
